THE TOP TREND SERIES: FOUR WAYS TO STYLE A KNIT PENCIL SKIRT

Last month I launched a new series on the blog I call 'The Top Trend' (you can check out my first post here). This month the trending piece you should include in your wardrobe this season is a knit pencil skirt. I'm especially loving striped ones. They are so versatile and so easy to wear. There is something about knit fabric that allows a piece to be dressy or casual, which I love. It's nice to have a handful of these kinds of items in your closet that can get you through multiple events no matter what the dress code.

This casual version is how I most frequently style my knit pencil skirts. A comfy loose tee, hat, and white tennis shoes make for the perfect momiform. I can run around town and chase after my kids easily in this cute casual look.

I threw on my trusty denim vest for this look. The look would be cute with just the tee, but a vest adds an essential 'third piece', something that makes the look comprehensive and complete. You could do the same thing with a jean jacket and achieve the same effect.

I love pattern mixing. It looks like it could be tricky to do, but it really isn't. A basic plaid top with a basic striped knit pencil skirt really compliment each other.

A dressier blouse amps up the knit skirt, and some colorful pumps really qualify this look as 'dressy'. This look would definitely work for the office or church. (and the skirt would still be comfy)
