falling for fall

So, it is still a bazillion degrees here in Utah, but I have been flipping through my 750 page Vogue September issue and am seeing new fall fashions pop up all over the blogs and it is getting me excited for cooler weather and changing leaves.  It's going to get a little tricky for me being pregnant, but I'm hoping I can make most of the styles work.  Here are a few of my top pics for this season:

perfect fall blazers that aren't too short, with structured shoulders

lace galore.  I think this shirt would even work with a growing tummy.
love these heather gray trousers, especially the cuff at the bottom.  Do these come in maternity??

chunky cableknit ponchos.  cozy and oversized.

maxi skirts, maxi skirts, maxi skirts.   they were great for summer and transition perfectly into fall.  and can we say 'stretchy waistband'??  I may have a little tricks up my sleeve for creating your own perfect maxi here pretty soon....
long lightweight cardigans.  love the sleeves on this one.

pops of  cobalt are going to be everywhere, and I think a polish is a great inexpensive way to add it to your wardrobe.

flowy mid-calf skirts

boatnecks

maybe I can use my growing tummy as a fashion accessory.  or maybe I'll just wear a lot of black..

but long flowy skirts are going to be my main go-to this season

any suggestions for maternity fall style?  I was pregnant with Bradley in the summer, so skirts and sandals were a no-brainer.  I think it might be a little more tricky with this one...

  1. Did you make those maxi skirts that you wore the last two days? Cause I want to make one of those!

Also, LOVE that anthro lace top.

  2. I am also really excited about fall. Digging out my boots and gazillion scarves will make up for the cooler temperatures. I took on the challenge of being pregnant in style with my two boys and wore lots of dresses and skirts - in summer with flats and winter with boots and tights. I made quite a few wrap dresses which worked well with my growing tummy. All the best for your pregnancy. Take care, Nina

  3. Yes, it is so much more tricky in the fall/winter...I learned that with Cam, cause Madi was a summer baby too. So I'm back to figuring it out again with this one. Let me know if you sew or find anything fun that would work with a prego baby. I'm always looking.

  4. Do you really have to worry? You'll look fabulous no matter what you wear, pregant nor not! Despite your concerns, I'm sure you'll be extremely successful in pulling off a fashionable mommy-to-be wardrobe full of things you find and make. Love the exciting times ahead!!!!! :)

  6. Love those grey trousers.
With #1 she was a winter baby and I loved it. I wore layers, cardis, the tops I bought were non-maternity as they all had stretch in it. Boots and tights. Wear your maxi dresses with layers & boots. Then with #2 she was born in the middle of summer and that was yuck. Yes, sandals and skirts were good but tops were hard as they were fine for casual but nothing with enough coverage for church! Now I'm expecting #3 in the summer (Australia) and I'm determined to get it right. More dresses and hopefully sew a thing or two.
But as the other commenters said, I'm sure you'll look gorgeous no matter what you're wearing!

  9. Ahhh, so glad to have found your blog! I found through your DIY Maxi skirt on Pinterest, but this post is my fav! :) I'm a preggers heading into my fav season, Fall, too and love you picks.

I was just tweeting about my new found love for ponchos and capes this morning. The perfect fall look even with a belly. I'm also stocking up on cardis and blazer (can leave open) and loose dresses/tops. Love the picks!
